UNA Munich began in November 2018, when a group of Latin American university students in Munich —many of us connected through friends of friends— came together around a shared idea: to create a community for other Latin American students who were seeking support, orientation, or a sense of belonging while studying in Germany. The community continued to grow until the COVID-19 pandemic, when our activities had to pause. Later on, the initiative was taken over by a new generation of students arriving from Latin America to study in Munich, who carried the project forward under a new name: LATUM. What started as a small idea became a lasting platform that continues to connect and support Latin American students in the city.
