UNA Munich began in November 2018, when a group of Latin American university students in Munich —many of us connected through friends of friends— came together around a shared idea: to create a community for other Latin American students who were seeking support, orientation, or a sense of belonging while studying in Germany. The community continued to grow until the COVID-19 pandemic, when our activities had to pause. Later on, the initiative was taken over by a new generation of students arriving from Latin America to study in Munich, who carried the project forward under a new name: LATUM. What started as a small idea became a lasting platform that continues to connect and support Latin American students in the city.

VISUAL STORY
THE HEART OF LATIN AMERICA
The logo was inspired by the vibrant spirit of Latin America, drawing from the lush colors of the tropical jungle and the endless blue skies that shape its landscapes. The color palette reflects the energy, warmth, and vitality that are deeply rooted in the region's identity. A key influence behind the visual direction was the rich pigmentation found in traditional Indigenous textiles. Across Latin America, these textiles are known for their bold, luminous colors and intricate craftsmanship, carrying generations of cultural heritage and storytelling. By incorporating these vivid tones, the color palette aims to capture the essence of this artistic tradition while celebrating the brightness, diversity, and authenticity that define the culture.

EXPLORATION
The main idea was to create a logo that represented something related to the academic and, at the same time, the flexibility and inclusivity of two different cultures. Therefore, the logo incorporates the number one inside the letter N, as a reference to integration in another of the latin americans students in the German country.
